Find Your Prom Dress for 2027
Prom is the one night the dress carries — so this collection is stocked in depth, and the fastest way through it is to decide three things up front: length, color and how much sparkle you want. Everything on this page is live inventory; the sizes and colors on each product page are what we can actually put on you. The filters cover color, size, silhouette, neckline, sleeve, fabric, designer and price, and they combine — so “long, emerald, strapless” is three clicks, not thirty minutes of scrolling. If your event leans dressy but isn’t prom, our formal dresses page covers the broader occasion; this page stays focused on the big night.
Long Gowns, Short Dresses and Ball-Gown Silhouettes
Floor-length is the prom default here, split between two personalities. A-line gowns — the largest group in the collection — fit through the bodice and release from the waist, an easy shape to wear for a full evening. Full ball gowns run a close second: structured bodice, layered skirt, the silhouette that owns a grand march and reads unmistakably princess-inspired in photos. Fitted and column gowns follow the body all the way down for a sleeker, red-carpet line, and a couple of true mermaid cuts — fitted through the hip, flared at the hem — sit in that family. Short and tea-length dresses round out the wall for after-parties and schools where prom runs less formal.
Choosing a Prom Dress Color
Black leads the collection — it photographs sharply under every kind of lighting and never fights a date’s outfit. The jewel tones are next: emerald and greens from sage to moss, navy and royal blue, deep burgundy and true red. Pinks run from blush through rose to fuchsia, and the metallics — silver, gold, rose gold, champagne — do their best work under a camera flash. Ivory, lavender, smoky blue and a handful of statement shades like eggplant, teal and yellow fill out the range. Many gowns come in several colorways: the swatches on each product card show every shade a style is cut in, and the color filter shows exactly how many gowns carry the one you want.
Necklines, Corset Bodices, Sleeves and Details
Strapless and high-neck styles lead the collection in equal measure, with V-necks close behind and a few asymmetrical and off-the-shoulder lines for something less expected. Corset bodices are a real presence here — structured, lace-up backs that let you fine-tune fit through the torso and hold their shape through a long night. Most gowns are sleeveless, but this is a prom wall with genuine sleeve options: a solid group of long-sleeve styles and a set of short-sleeve cuts, useful for winter formals and anyone who wants a more modest line. Detail-wise, beadwork and tulle carry the collection, with lace, glitter, sequin, satin and chiffon finishes behind them — beading and sequins for constant light-catch, satin and lace for a cleaner, classic read.
Finding the Right Fit and Plus-Size Options
Standard numeric sizing runs 0 through 28 across the collection, and a meaningful share of these gowns — including many of the ball gowns — are also cut in extended sizes from 2X to 6X. The size filter shows exactly which styles come in yours, and each product page carries its designer’s own size chart. Measure bust, waist and hips against that chart rather than guessing from street sizing, and when you land between sizes, order up: designer gowns are cut with alteration in mind, and taking in a waist or hem is routine work while letting out often isn’t possible. Our seamstress handles alterations in house by appointment for local shoppers; if we’re shipping your gown, build in time for a tailor near you before photos.
Designer Prom Dresses at Heather’s Boutique
Every gown on this page comes from a designer we actually carry and can actually get: Ladivine anchors the collection with the widest range of silhouettes and colorways, Dave & Johnny brings clean, modern lines, AMORIS leans glamorous and detail-heavy, and Andrea & Leo covers the dramatic, editorial end of the wall. Use the designer filter to shop one label at a time, or click through to a designer’s page to see everything they cut across occasions. Prices span a genuine range — the price filter starts under $100 — so a standout dress doesn’t require a standout budget.
Shopping Online or In Store
Every prom dress here ships nationwide, with live stock by size and color on each product page — what you see is what ships. If you’re in southeastern Wisconsin, the better experience is in person: Heather’s Boutique is in Oconomowoc, open Tuesday through Friday 10–6 and Saturday 10–3, and you can book a fitting appointment for dedicated one-on-one time with the collection. One honest piece of timing advice: popular colors in mid-range sizes go first every season, so start earlier than feels necessary — you want alteration time before photos, not after. Questions about a gown, a ship date or sizing? Call (888) 450-6525 and someone who knows this inventory will pick up.
Complete the Prom Look
The dress is the anchor, not the whole picture. If your date needs dressing, our prom suits and tuxedos collection is deep — and coordinating a lapel or tie to your gown’s color is easier when both come from the same place. Underclassmen shopping for the fall dance should head to homecoming dresses, where the short styles live; and if you’re dressing for graduation, a wedding or a gala rather than prom itself, the formal collection covers those occasions with many of the same designers.
Questions shoppers ask us
How early should I order a prom dress for 2027?
Earlier than feels necessary — popular colors in mid-range sizes go first every season, and you want time for alterations before photos. If your date is set, start looking as soon as the collection drops; in-stock gowns ship right away.
Do you alter prom dresses?
Yes — alterations are done in house at our Oconomowoc, Wisconsin boutique, by appointment. If you’re ordering from out of state, your gown ships nationwide and any local tailor can work from the generous seam allowances designer gowns are cut with.
What’s the difference between a prom dress and a formal dress?
Mostly occasion and styling. Prom gowns lean bolder — more sparkle, higher slits, statement backs — while our formal dresses cover a wider range of events. Many gowns genuinely work for both; we tag each style for every occasion it suits.
Can I see a dress before I buy it?
If you’re near Oconomowoc, yes — the boutique is open Tuesday through Saturday and you can book a fitting appointment. Otherwise every product page carries full photos, the designer’s size chart and live stock by size and color.
